Once you've biked or walked from Alexandra to Doctor's Point, the Roxburgh Gorge Trail stops, and the jet boat transfer starts! Have your bikes safely and securely loaded on to the boat and enjoy the ride.

Following the Mighty Clutha River from Alexandra to Roxburgh, The Roxburgh Gorge Trail offers a back country experience like no other! Break up the ride with a scenic 13km jet boat ride between Doctors Point and Shingle Creek. Your skipper provides a full historical commentary along the river, highlighting key heritage sites and stories in the area.  The perspective of the Roxburgh Gorge from the water is even more spectacular than from the trail!

Clutha River Heritage Cruise

From $120 per person

A Clutha River Heritage Cruise ventures back in time through the spectacular scenery of the Roxburgh Gorge.

It offers a unique opportunity to explore these isolated reaches of the mighty Clutha River and view some of NZ's best examples of European and Chinese Gold mining.


Allow two + hours to soak up the history of Doctors Point, Butchers Point and the Clutha River, and see the preserved gold mines and gold miners huts.
