Wine

The Most Divine Flavours

Central Otago's wine region is the southern-most grape growing region in the world.

Known for its boutique premium wines, this region is best described as a series of sub-regions each exhibiting distinct characteristics and styles in terms of the wine produced: Alexandra, Bannockburn, Cromwell, Lowburn, Pisa, Bendigo, Gibbston and Wanaka. Alexandra Basin is this region's more southerly sub-region with vineyards located in and around Clyde, Earnscleugh and Alexandra.

The region's distinct seasons are challenging and the margin of error is much tighter here in reading nature's pulse. The vines and soils are young in wine-growing terms and are already producing superb quality wines that promise to become aristocrats on the world's wine map. Pinot Noir is already showing unparalleled success and other varietals are picked to excel.

A very educational (and tasty) weekend can be had if you explore the wine region of the Okanagen Val
Here you are drinking the land, the people and their story

The Most Unforgiving Climate

The Pinot Noir grape is the hardiest of them all to be able to thrive in our extreme climates here in Central Otago.

We are the highest, driest, hottest and coldest wine growing region on the planet which just so happens to produce some of the finest wines.
