We acknowledge and understand that visitors and users of this website may be concerned about their privacy and the confidentiality and security of any information that may be provided. We are committed to being open and transparent about how we manage your personal information.

Alexandra Information Centre is subject to the New Zealand Privacy Act 1993. By using our websites or products and services, you agree to be bound by this privacy policy.
We will update our policies and this Privacy Statement from time to time. The most current version will always be updated on our website. This Privacy Policy should be read together in conjunction to our website terms and conditions.

Visiting Our Website

By visiting Alexandra Information Centre's website, our server makes a record of your visit and logs certain information for statistical purposes only. This information may include the internet domain you are using;

  • Internet domain you are using; your IP address; your browser type and version; and the operating system you are using.

  • Dates and times you access the website, the complete URLs of the pages you visit and the websites and links you used to access our website.

We collect this information to ensure we are fulfilling our legitimate interests as a business to ensure that our website is fit for purpose, and promotes our services appropriately for our customers - including by displaying information that our customers are interested in. e also rely on our legitimate interest in checking customer satisfaction and troubleshooting any website issues.

Alexandra Information Centre's website contains links to other sites that are external. Alexandra Information Centre takes care in linking websites, however has no direct control over the content of the linked websites, or to the changes that may occur to the content of those sites. It is the responsibility of the user to make their own informed decisions about the accuracy, currency, reliability and authenticity of the information contained in the linked external website.

We will only collect the personal information that is necessary to deliver the best possible service to you. The details that we collect will vary depending on your dealings with the Alexandra Information Centre, and the products and services we (or our third parties) provide to you.

  • Any preferences you mention to us, such as dietary requirements or accessibility preferences.

We may also collect personal information to assist in identifying specific ways in which we can serve you better. For example, using contact details to send you a short survey about your interaction with us and your experience which thus helps us improve our service from a customer perspective. We may also use personal information for analytical purposes to improve our services to enhance the customer experience, and to improve the functionality and quality of our online tourism services. 

In the instance of receiving feedback, please note that it may be used in print, and for online marketing and advertising purposes. This includes, but is not limited to, third party review sites and surveys supplied to us post-activity or stay.

In each case, we only collect the personal information that we need to carry out our specific functions. We collect and use your personal information to provide a range of products, services, benefits and recommendations that relate to your travel needs. 

Third Party Service Suppliers

We use third-party service suppliers to process your personal information on our behalf. When a booking requires it, we work with third-party payment service suppliers to facilitate payment. We also work with third-party advertisement networks to market services on other platforms and involve third-party suppliers for analytical purposes, and will not use your personal information for any purposes other than those described above.

We do not share your personal information with third parties for them to use for the purposes of sending you marketing information or those third parties to use your information for their own purposes.

Disclose to Third Parties

Any personal information collected by Alexandra Information Centre will only be made available to Alexandra Information Centre's personnel and approved third parties whose duties require them to use this information. Any personal information collected through this website will also be disclosed if it is required by law.

We will also provide the operator with your personal details, such as name and contact details to complete and administer your booking. We may also provide the operator with sensitive personal information about you, namely specific details of any relevant health conditions, disabilities, height, access requirements and special dietary requirements you may have. We collect this information directly from you to ensure that your experience is appropriate for your needs and to try and keep you as safe and secure during your stay or for your activity that you book through us.

Please note, that it is required by law that your consent is obtained at the collection of 'sensitive information', and unless we are specifically told otherwise, we accept that you have agreed to the collection of all information that is provided to use for use in agreement with this policy. In instances where this information is provided to us by third parties - such as a friend or family member booking a service on your behalf, it is important that those persons acknowledge this privacy policy, understand it and accept it. If the individual does not have the means to acknowledge, understand and agree to the above terms, Alexandra Information Centre will require a parent or guardian to give the assurances set out in this section.

Protecting Personal Information

We restrict access to personal information to our employees and contracted third party providers who need to know that information in order to process it for us and who are subject to strict contractual confidentiality obligations. We extend these privacy policies to our business relationships and expect said relationships to honour our privacy policies in the handling of customer personal information.

Retaining Personal Information

Alexandra Information Centre will retain your Personal Information for as long as we have a relationship with you, and for a period of time afterwards where we have an ongoing business need to hold on to it. Following this period, we will make sure that your personal information is deleted or anonymised. Otherwise, as a general rule, we only keep your information for as long as we require it to provide you with our services. 

Social Media

If you use Alexandra Information Centre's social media apps, links or features, we may access information about you via that social media channel in accordance with their own policies. If you have chosen to include your name, profile picture, birthday, township or other personal details available on the social media provider, please note we may access it to provide you with relevant content. 

Your Rights

You have the right to object to the use of your personal information for marketing use. You have the right to have your personal information deleted removed in certain circumstances. In some cases, we may have the right to refuse to do so.

You may request access to, or correct, any of your Personal Information we hold about you at any time by contacting us by using the details at the end of this policy. In doing so, we will need to verify your identity. The law allows us to refuse, your request, however we will advise you if this is the case.

When gathering, using and disclosing personal information, we will take all measures to ensure the information is correct, complete and up to date. However if, at any time, the information is incorrect, we will aim to correct it as soon as possible.
